Food At Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad is the right place to savour traditional Gujarati cuisine which is basically vegetarian food and shouldn’t be missed if visiting the city. The most popular form of meal is a typical Gujarati thali (meal) which consists of rotli, dal, rice and Shaak (cooked vegetables, sometimes with curry), with accompaniments of pickles and roasted papads. One can also taste Muslim non-vegetarian food and snacks for a little price at stalls across the city and near Teen Darwaza in particular. We have mentioned some of the good restaurants in our website and hope that the list proves to be of some help. Popular beverages include buttermilk and tea while sweet dishes include laddoos and mango. There are many restaurants, which serve a wide array of Indian and international cuisines. Most of the food outlets serve only vegetarian food, as a strong tradition of vegetarianism is maintained by the city's Jain and Hindu communities. The first all-vegetarian Pizza Hut in the world opened in Ahmedabad. One can now find all national and international restaurant and hotel chains in the city serving cousins of everyone’s taste.
